My girlfriend calls me “el hombre primitivo” – the primitive man. One of the reasons is that I rarely buy new clothes for myself. I can have a pair of jeans for 10 years if they are good and I like the fit and feel. As the old saying goes: “if it isn’t broke, why fix it?” I don’t know how different that is compared to many other men, but for that reason I don’t do much shopping of anything but groceries and gadgets for the house. So why would I write a post about shopping, well-knowing that I know nothing about it? – Because I know little something about quality and often realize immediately when I stumble upon it.
After almost a year and a half here in Cali, I came by the Grama® Outlet store in Barrio Santa Monica, next to the La14 Supermarket. I asked about the brand and was told that it was local business, and while they have been selling sportswear for more than 13 years, they have only been producing garments using their own brand for the last 2 years.
I started out buying a few boxer shorts and t-shirts for my workouts. When I started using their clothes, I instantly noted how great the fit was and how light it was to wear. Since then I’ve discarded pretty much all of my old boxers, shorts and t-shirts for my training and switches to Grama®. First of all because the quality is great and they have some cool designs. Most people might not know, but Colombia is famous for it’s textile industry. Many big brands including Levi’s have production here. I guarantee that you’ll be surprised. Secondly because it makes sense to support local businesses, and third because it 50-75% cheaper than buying international established brands like Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Under Armour, which are heavily taxed like most other imported goods.
I feel that their clothes have been made with fabrics allowing your body to breathe easily. On top of that Grama® claims that their products are UV-resistant, and made with intelligent elastic fibres preventing muscular compression and helping recovery after injuries. It sounds like they are kind of over-promising here and if you think this sounds a little too good to be true, I tend to agree with you, because it is so hard to verify. What I can say is, that I have been extremely satisfied with their products, but also impressed by their designs – especially the stuff they design for women, which is really colorful and happy! I’ve gifted their products on several occasions, and both my mom and girlfriend love their Grama® leggings.
As a final praise, their products dry extremely fast, which I consider an added bonus here in Cali, where I sweat like a hog most days and especially when I’m doing exercises.
They make clothes for the gym, running, crossfit, yoga, and as something completely new for 2015 – bicycling – which I have yet to try. With 8 locations in the state – 4 of them being in Cali – it’s still a small business, but I highly recommend that you check it out!
I was in Cali recently, and I decided to buy some Grama outfits for my workouts. I am in love with the fabric, fitting, designs, and great quality.
I think the clothes made with fabrics allowing your body to breathe easily. One of the best information of that Grama sportswear that its products are UV-resistant, and made with intelligent elastic fibers preventing muscular compression and helping recovery after injuries.
