A Hernia Hurts… So Does November And Turning 40!

Imagine your intestines trying to squeeze themselves out through the soft tissue in your lower belly. No bueno. Needs fixing and ASAP.

The reason I bring it up, is that it happened to me and I just had surgery done at one of Latin America’s best hospitals here in Cali for about 7% the cost of what a similar surgery costs with the California Hernia Specialists. My insurance paid around $500 USD for the procedure vs. $7000 USD for a comparable treatment in California. Big difference, huh?

Let me tell you that there’s huge potential for anyone needing medical attention but maybe don’t have health insurance or can’t afford it “back home”.

The savings are enormous and apply to any type of procedure or medical treatment you can imagine, including plastic surgery, dental work, general surgery, knee / hip replacement, etc. Also therapies and massages are dirt cheap compared to at least the US.

A friend just told me that he recently had a 90-minute massage in Arizona. Price: $270 USD + 20% mandatory tip. In Cali that would be maximum $30 USD total.

Many Colombian doctors speak great English and there are local agencies that specialize in assisting foreigners with the whole experience.

Just figured I’d share with you. Medical tourism has such an enormous potential in Cali. Maybe you could save a buck and make a trip out of it. Besides, we would be happy to host you if you come 🙂

Not a bad place to be a medical tourist

THE REAL REASON…

I’m reaching out to you, though, is because we just had our busiest month ever. During the last two weeks of October, Cali hosted the United Nations COP16 Biodiversity event which attracted almost 25.000 international travelers. Even the sex hotels that charge by the hour were fully booked (no joke!).

During just one week, we had 336 check-ins across 117 apartments. Pretty crazy to think of.

But now it’s November. Most likely the slowest month of the year and I wanted to send you a little treat along with an important message.

We are changing the way we do business and want you to be part of it. Last month we paid over $40.000 USD in platform fees to Airbnb alone. Then add to it all the fees to booking.com. It’s a lot of money. And I’d rather pass that money on as savings to you – our dear repeat guest.

Our new direct booking website is finally live and I want to make it simple for you to choose. Prices will always be at least 10% (most likely 15%) lower by booking directly compared to booking on the big platforms – and sometimes a lot more.

Yes, It’s a bit more circumstantial and we do request a small security deposit, but the savings should more than make up for the additional step. I believe that we have proved ourselves with more than 5600 positive reviews on Airbnb. In other words, we are the host in Cali you can trust.

Welcome to Cali, Welcome to Colombia

… And welcome to Adventure! I arrived in Cali for the first time as a tourist in 2011, passing through on a motorcycle. When I arrived for the second time I came as a father and as a resident, without having any friends (except for my girlfriend), and without speaking Spanish.
